2011 Good Vibrations, Blind Variations is a 40 minute video created by Nightmare City in collaboration with Michael Ruglio-Misurell (Rocco). During the sunset over Lake Wesserunsett Nightmare City and Rocco dance blindfolded to all the 26 takes of the Beach Boys classic "Good Vibrations." The perfectionism of Brian Wilson is undermined by the blind actors, who ignorant of the camera, fall in and out of frame and stumble on sticks and stones. Three-quarters through the video, the trio become totally unaware of the camera, leaving an unobstructed postcard image of the sunset. The low-budget and pathetic efforts of the Nightmare City and Rocco counter the fact that "Good Vibrations" was the most expensive song to produce. |
